Be Consistent

Be Consistent

Whatever you are doing, be consistent.

I find that is one of the hardest things to do with my artistry. I lose sight of my personal voice in my work. My problem is that my voice isn't defined or loud enough yet.

At the heart of an artist's work, you should be able to see the artist. When it comes to your design, choose a style and go for it. People want to know that they are getting you when they hire you. Consistency is a good thing in art.

For me it has always been difficult defining a style because I don't want to be defined "by a style." On the other end of the spectrum, I can't be everything to everybody. All I can do in the meantime is keep creating. Keep writing. Keep shooting. At some point I'll find my voice. You will know it when you see it.

3 Steps

My theory is it only takes three steps to impressing someone:

1) Do something they can't.
2) Do something they don't know anybody else that could do it.
3) Keep doing it until you are a master at it.

Now you've impressed someone.

Quit Your Day Job

You should quit your day job... when the time is right.

For me that is a very scary thing. I'm always playing it safe. I like to know that things are going to work out before I even do them. The biggest thing that frightens me is the fear of the unknown. What if something happens, what if I get really sick, what if a shooting star falls from the sky and lands on our house and our insurance doesn't cover it. Yup, that has gone through me head.

What I've found is that things work out. They always do. If you have your heart set on something bigger than yourself and your mind open to the possibilities that adventure can bring, it will work out.
